What is the Honors College?
SHSU's Honors College offers you a broad learning experience in an intimate, intellectually stimulating environment. You'll find pursuits and challenges that engage you, professors who "get" you, and classmates who are as excited about learning as you are.

What Makes Me Eligible?
To join the Honors College, you should have:
- Freshman or sophomore status as a continuing or transfer student, or special permission from the Honors College if you are an upperclassman
- A 3.4 cumulative grade point average or higher
- An SAT1 or ACT composite score of at least 1200 or 27, respectively, if you are an incoming student-or, you must have graduated in the top 10 percent of your high school class
The Honors College accepts candidates on a case-by-case basis. So even if your test scores don't meet the required minimum, we encourage you to make a case for why you would be a great candidate for the program.
