Residence Life

SHSU students are some of the most fun-loving, service-minded and spirited around. In the residence halls, they plan outings to big Bearkat games, enjoy refreshments and dance under the disco ball at White Hall's Club Tini, and make any day a sundae at ice cream socials.

Student Clubs and Organizations

Whatever your interests, you can bet there's a club for you among the more than 200 on campus. In the sorority and fraternity houses, Greek residents hold talent shows, host charity benefit events and throw themed parties.

Leadership

You'll find plenty of ways to develop and flex your leadership at SHSU. The College Leadership Speakers, Diversity Leadership Conference and Freshman Leaders are just a few. Student clubs are also great places to step up to leadership roles.

Volunteering

Being of service to others is a big part of life on the SHSU campus. You'll have countless opportunities to help lives around campus, in the community and across the nation as a Bearkat.

Cultural Diversity

The SHSU campus is a second home to students from 53 countries, with minorities making up nearly a third of the student population. This rich diversity gives SHSU a vibrancy you won't find just anywhere. You can see it reflected in the huge variety of student clubs and in cultural events throughout the year.

Recreation

Whether you want your recreation structured or unstructured, we have something for everyone. The Recreational Sports Department offers a wide variety of engagement opportunities including intramural sports, aquatic programs, outdoor recreation pursuits, club sports, fitness programming, special events and much more.

Arts

SHSU is home to one of the top schools of music in the state and top-25 theatre and dance programs in the nation. The new Gaertner Performing Arts Center will be a spectacular place to see student artists and visiting performers in action.

Athletics

Go Bearkats! With five men's and eight women's varsity teams, you can play or cheer your heart out.

Beyond Campus

Huntsville and the surrounding area will give you all the entertainment and relaxation you can handle. Visit fairs and festivals, swim at a rock quarry, see a movie in town (priced for student budgets), eat at great local restaurants and much more.
