Submissions

The Southwest Journal of Criminal Justice (SWJCJ) is now accepting manuscripts for consideration. We are interested in receiving submissions of original work that has not been previously published. Diversity in theoretical and methodological approaches is encouraged as is the submission of policy-related research. The SWJCJ is the online, refereed journal of the Southwest Association of Criminal Justice, a regional affiliate of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. Authors do not need to be members of the Southwest Association of Criminal Justice to submit a manuscript for consideration.

Manuscripts may only be submitted by email as an attachment. Submissions must be formatted in either Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect, or Rich Text Format (RTF). All graphics must be submitted as separate files (from the text) in either .bmp, .gif, .jpg .pict, or .tiff format. Authors are responsible for updating SWJC of any change in email address.

All submissions must include:

  • Title Page with title, name of author(s), institutional affiliation, and mailing and e-mail address(es);
  • Abstract of less than 200 words which describes the problem or issue, methodology, and reseults; Up to six key words which describe the work;
  • Text that is typed double-spaced and fully justified on numbered pages that have 1" margins on all four sides of the 8½" x 11" pages; footnotes rather than endnotes are preferred and must be created using the footnote feature of the word processing package; text length should generally not exceed 35 pages;
  • References that contain the full biographic reference for all citations contained within the text;
  • Graphics as separate files in any of the formats listed above; the main concern is that the graphics received look and represent the author's intent;
  • Biographical sketch that briefly summarizes the author(s) professional and academic career and current research interests.

Submission of a manuscript implies commitment to publish in the SWJCJ, that the manuscript has not been previously published, and is not under review elsewhere.

Authors interested in submitting manuscripts for review may send their work electronically to the Editors. Please contact the Editors if you have any questions concerning these submission requirements.
